Big 5 Safari, Botswana, Self Catering Camping Safari plus Activities
Bookings Open: 11-24 May 2024
Travel in Africa is about knowing when and where to go, and with whom. A few weeks too early/late and a few kilometers off course you could miss the greatest show on earth. And wouldn’t that be a pity? – Africa Geographic.
100 years after explorer David Livingstone called this land ‘country full of rivers’, the environment and wildlife in the Moremi area was named after the Batawana tribe, Chief Moremi III. The Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most diverse reserves with surprises everywhere, even for the most seasoned Africa-traveller’s. Moremi Reserve is a study in contrasts, with areas of dry woodland and savannah next to picturesque floodplains and lagoons.
The reserve is a sanctuary for many animals and known for its large herds of plains game such as Buffalo, Zebra, and Wildebeest. It is also home to many predators including Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, and Hyenas.
Botswana is definitely one of those countries in Africa that one always yearns to visit again on a self-drive, self-catering, camping safari. You will need a 4x4 vehicle with low range. You can use your off-road camper/trailer/caravan for this safari, but we do not recommend any ground tents in this wilderness area.

Route Sani Pass, Lesotho
20 to 23 July 2024
Sani Pass is the mother of all Southern African mountain passes. Statistically and in every sense, it out distance, out climbs, and out-performs all its competitors with consummate ease to have become the most iconic gravel pass in Southern Africa. It remains a challenging drive with all the drama, scenery, bad weather and treacherous conditions expected of a pass with a summit altitude of 2 876 m above sea-level. It is now used, for the most part, by 4x4 vehicles and has become a highlight for tourists from all over the world visiting the Southern Drakensberg.
Sani Pass is voted by the public as the most popular (no.1) mountain pass to drive. This road serves as a gateway to Lesotho from KwaZulu Natal, known as the “Roof of Africa”. The area is also the domain of the endangered Bearded Vulture, the Basotho shepherds, and their animals. The Route boast to be the highest gravel road in Africa and third highest in the world and peaks at a heady height of 3240m above sea level!
This trip is a must-do for all 4x4 and Nature Enthusiasts alike – it is a brilliant long weekend away and is guaranteed to leave you with plenty of memories to share with your friends & family. This not intended to be a challenge at all, but it is still high altitude stuff, it is a weekend filled with memories, travelling through the magnificent Drakensberg Mountain range.
